About
The Little Institute is a very small nomadic gallery space in Glasgow, Scotland. It was founded in 2023 by Maya Schønning Kjærulff and Embla Graham during their final year at the Glasgow School of Art. The travelling gallery hosts openings at varied locations around Glasgow, acting as a meeting point for different audiences and communities. It showcases both established and emerging, local and international artists working in small scale.
Drawing inspiration from gallery mock ups for artists’ exhibitions, The Little Institute aims to celebrate the small and the playful. We consider how scale can bring audiences closer and how it might challenge ideas of value and accessibility.
Each exhibition is accompanied by a publication—an origami fold-out of the gallery space—containing texts and a replica of the installation, which are free for audiences to take home.
